Stony Brook Creek Shoreline Habitat Restoration and Stabilization
The Wading River Ponds have suffered from environmental degradation and siltation from the discharge of stormwater runoff from area road. To mitigate the existing conditions, the Town of Brookhaven retained CA to design a sedimentation basin at the eastern end of the eastern pond and dredge accumulated siltation materials from both ponds. The contract also included construction of a stabilized drainage channel at the southwest corner of the eastern pond where road runoff from Zophar Mills Road was eroding a channel to abate any further natural erosion and pond siltation. CA has assisted the Town of Brookhaven in preparing the documents necessary to execute the contract between the Town and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) in order to accomplish their project goals. CA is prepared design plans, submitting environmental permit modifications required, completing bid documents, and performed construction management. Documentation required to secure and maintain state funding was provided. This project was funded by a grant received under the Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
